What would it take to make circus in the Midlands work better for everyone?
Together with Circus Mash and New Vic Theatre, we’re building a network for anyone living in the Midlands and working in circus. The idea is simple: create space to meet, share what we know, and figure out how we can support each other.

In January 2026 we hosted the first Midlands Circus Gathering at New Vic Theatre in Stoke-on-Trent.
17 people came along to swap stories, share challenges and ideas, and discover what’s already happening across the region. The group shared resources, made connections, and offered support ranging from career coaching to equipment loans to rehearsal space.
We also watched a performance of the New Vic’s Little Mermaid together (co-directed by Upswing’s Vicki Dela), which was a lovely way to round off the day as a group.
What the network already has to share:
ACE funding sessions
for freelance artists
Career coaching
1 hour, free
Aerial rig hire
circular, 5m x 9.5m
Outdoor R&D space
for rig building and rehearsals
Co-working space
in Newcastle-under-Lyme
Hospital ward connections
for performance work
Inclusivity training
for disabled and neurodivergent needs
Workshop delivery
libraries, schools, SEND
Want to get involved?
As we figure out what the network will become, you can stay up to date by signing up to receive emails. Once you’ve signed up we’ll email you a link to join the community Whatsapp group!
We’re planning another meet-up. If you have an event or moment coming up that could work as a focal point, let us know directly via email so we can support with coordination.
