Upswing creates Innovative Circus Work that Connects People to The world and Each Other
Never content with the ordinary, Upswing has spent fifteen years creating non-traditional experiences that bring people together through circus, and we’ve inhabited some very unusual spaces along the way.
We have toured theatres and festivals with Showdown, The Princess and the Pea and Circus Flavours, but you might also find Upswing’s work as a digital circus trail in a local park or a pillowfight in a library.
We’ve taken adults in care homes on a journey through zero-gravity ‘space travel’ and featured Global Majority artists and stories in our award-winning films Common Ground and Circus Flavours On Screen.
Through all of our work we seek to create experiences that are truly communal, interactive and allow the worlds we build to meet the audiences that inspire them
With co-commissioners and producers including Stratford Circus, National Theatre, Roundhouse, Channel 4 and Hull UK City of Culture, Upswing have created an electrifying portfolio of work that regularly tours nationally and internationally.
