Louise Alexander

Louise, Finance Associate

“I am inspired by the way Upswing involves people; as artists, audience and participants in arresting work. I first learnt of Upswing during their residency at a care home, enabling elderly residents to experience weightlessness. I’m thrilled to be involved with this dynamic and supportive group – creating financial systems to keep the charity sustainable”.

A qualified Management Accountant, Louise has worked as a Finance Manager in the arts and charity sector for over 20 years, helping small charities thrive and create great work. She has provided management accounts to enable decision-making for Forma Arts & Media, Drake Music, Daily Life Ltd, Islington People’s Rights, the Power Inquiry, Operation Black Vote and Charter88. As a freelance consultant, Louise has designed set up systems for online accounting and remote working for Young Roots, Out of Joint, Rastafari Movement UK CIC, Catbytes, Magic Me, hArtslane and Rushey Green Time Bank. She is a trustee with Wycombe Environment Centre and currently works with New Weather Institute, Operation Black Vote and Learn English At Home.  Louise has recently moved from Forest Hill to Ipswich and enjoys drawing portraits in her spare time.
