Claire Horton

“Upswing meets people where they are – in libraries, care homes, and outdoor spaces as well as traditional theatre spaces. It is this that enables us to create work that so fully reflects the UK today; connecting people and place through shared experience.”

Claire Horton initially trained in painting at Camberwell College of Arts, and discovered her passion for arts management during an internship with children’s theatre company Kazzum in 2008. She progressed to work in the carnival and outdoor arts sectors as Company and Project Manager at Mandinga Arts for eight years, and then as Relationship Manager, Combined Arts, at Arts Council England. She joined Upswing in 2018 and shares their passion for supporting diverse artists and creative projects that engage directly with communities. She is currently Trustee for Trinidadian carnival company, Sunshine International Arts. Claire also maintains her practice as an Ashtanga and Yoga Therapy instructor.
